Registered Charity - No 1028560 Minimize
We are a registered charity (number 1028560). we do not receive any help from the government towards the running of the playgroup.

All the money to cover staff and running costs have to be raised first and we are only able to keep our fees so low because we are constantly fundraising - as parents / guardians you will be asked to help out occasionally.

If we do not have good parent support for our fundraising events we may have to put our fees up to maintain the excellent standard of care that we offer.

  • Children have positive relationships with staff and are beginning to learn right from wrong as they respond well to commands, such as 'walking feet please'
  • Staff have a sound knowledge and understanding of the early learning goals, having undertaken training and by following the curriculum guidance for the Foundation Stage.
  • Children are extremely well behaved, they know what is expected of them because the staff present as good role models and are consistent in their approach to children, giving clear boundaries.

    History Minimize

We have been operating  for over 30 years. In 1976 Feltwell Playgroup  started opening for one session per week - From 2008, We will be offering 8 sessions and 4 lunch clubs per week.

We meet in the old school which is now the W.I. Hall and benefit from having access to secure large indoor and outdoor areas. The W.I. Hall has been home to Feltwell Playgroup since 1994 and we are well established within the village. We currently have a mixture of both British and American children (due to our location near the three American Airforce bases - Feltwell, Lakenheath & Mildenhall).

It is our aim that each session we provide will include a wide variety of activities that will stimulate, challenge & encourage children to learn through the medium of play. We provide activities such as:

Puzzles, games playdough, role play, water and sand play, painting, handling of natural materials, cutting, gluing, dance, musical instruments and puppetry to name but a few.

There are trolleys provided throughout the room offering a wide selection of activities so that the children can independently exchange and alternate between them.

We often spend time during sessions working together as a group, either in story time, music and movement, games or group discussions. This helps to build relationships, individual confidence, co-operation, respect for other and gives the children an opportunity to share their experiences together.

It also begins the process of sitting and listening and taking turns which is inevitable in their later school years. Most of the children that attend the playgroup then go on to the village primary school to which we have strong links. We visit the school on special occasions to allow children to become familiar with its surroundings and the reception class teacher visits with the children at playgroup before they move onto school to make the transition as smooth as possible.
